Jeanne Van Orman is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and the American
Planning Association.
An independent consultant since 1987, she has won awards from the National Endowment for the Arts for her photographic
presentations to local officials on their town centers and from the Massachusetts Housing Partnership on innovative zoning
for affordable housing.
Ms. Van Orman has designed and conducted training programs for citizens and public officials from Massachusetts to the Caribbean.
She has taught planning and Smart Growth courses at the Boston Architectural Center (BAC), Bridgewater State College and
Harvard University's Design School (with Ralph Willmer). She has produced training manuals on planning tools for public
officials in Tobago (with Harvard University) and in Massachusetts for the Citizen Planner Training Collaborative (with Ralph Willmer).
Van Orman currently serves on the Fairhaven (MA) Conservation Commission, is a former Selectman and a former Commissioner
of the Martha's Vineyard Commission.
She is listed in Who's Who in America and was educated at Smith College, University of Florence, Italy, Columbia University
and Harvard University's Graduate School of Design.
